Read This Before You Talk Yourself Out of Starting
Have you ever felt God nudge you to do somethingâyour first instinct was to overthink it or talk yourself out of it?
Recently I have been strategizing about next steps in my business and I have felt that doing FB lives is a next step for me. Why? Maybe because every coach I have had told me to start doing them. There are many benefits if you run any kind of business, but that is for another time.đ
Iâve done Facebook Lives before, but I was never consistent. Iâd start to plan, get everything âjust right,â and then fear would creep in.
What if nobody watches?
What will people think?
What if itâs not perfect?
Perfectionism and fear had me stuck.
But hereâs the shift: I finally realized if God was asking me to do this, it wasnât about who watchedâit was about what He wanted to develop in me. It was about being consistent. Ray Higdon, who is a great network marketing coach, has done a FB Live everyday for years. And I am just trying to be consistent with one FB Live a week.
Sometimes God will call you to do something because He has to develop you to prepare you for what is coming.
So, I decided to just start. If you want to see my FB Live click here.
God Calls People to Start
All throughout the Bible God calls people to start. We know the end of their story, but they donât know the end of their story. Everyone of the people listed here had a moment where they had to take their next step and move forward and start whatever it was God was calling them to do.
Joshua 1:9 â âHave I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.â
â Godâs reminder to Joshua: step into the unknown, Iâm already with you.
Ecclesiastes 11:4 â âWhoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.â
â If you wait for perfect conditions, youâll never begin.
Zechariah 4:10 â âDo not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.â
â God celebrates when we take the first step.
Proverbs 16:3 â âCommit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.â
â Start by committing it to Him.
Hebrews 11:8 â âBy faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.â
â Abraham just started walking, trusting God.
Whether it was Noah building an ark before rain had ever fallen, or Peter stepping out of the boat onto water, or the disciples dropping their fishing nets without a planâGod loves it when we take the first step.
A New Business is Born
A year ago I joined a brand new Plant Based Bioactive Peptide Company. And long before I began, the founder Justin Prince had to start. He had to have the first conversation and take the first step. That small action sparked momentumâand eventually led to launching Make Wellness.
For me personally, I am studying to be certified in the Enneagram and in Story Work because I love helping people transform. But hereâs the truth: if I never start coaching, itâs just head knowledge sitting on a shelf. Growth happens when we put it into practice.
It doesn't matter how I use the information, that will come, the most important part is to start. Start the certification, start the business, start the coaching, start the new IG accountâŠâŠ.. Just start!
Start Your Health Journey
Maybe for you, starting isnât about businessâitâs about your health. You donât have to overhaul everything at once. Start small:
Start movingâgo for a 10-minute walk after dinner.
Start drinking more waterâswap one soda or coffee for water today.
Start adding one extra serving of vegetables to your plate.
Start going to bed 30 minutes earlier
Start with 5 minutes of stretching in the morning.
Small beginnings matter. Those little choices add upâand God rejoices to see the work begin.
I have a Question
Iâll ask you the same thing I asked on my live:
đ What is God calling you to start?
đ Whatâs one thing youâve startedâand youâre so glad you did?
Maybe itâs a business. Maybe itâs a new health journey. Maybe itâs being consistent in prayer, journaling, or simply showing up to help others. Whatever it is God is calling you to do, He wonât show you the next step until you take the first step.
Hereâs the reminder: you donât have to have it all figured out. God isnât asking for perfectionâHeâs asking for obedience. The breakthrough often comes after the first step.
